The Gymnasium & Athletics Complex consists of two new single-story buildings with a low and high roof, requiring 473 tons of steel to be erected and installed. The gymnasium building has six trusses at the high roof that required a support crane to be used to tie in support beams between the trusses during the erection process. The first truss erected required extensive guying for stability. The trusses are 14 feet deep spanning 175 feet, were shipped in three pieces for field splicing, and arched with a 7’-6 middle ordinate.
